Tuesday, November 7, 2023*
Arts executive extraordinaire Henry Fogel will conclude the JBS-USA Zoom Series for 2023 with a comparative presentation on Jussi’s live performance and studio recordings, drawing on his exceptional collection of recordings for musical examples. The pre-recorded broadcast will air on Tuesday, November 7 at 7:30 pm ET, and will be repeated on Saturday, November 11 at 12 noon ET. Following the presentation will be a Q and A segment, to which attendees may submit questions in advance.
Among a staggering number of other achievements, Mr. Fogel is the Producer/Host of Collectors’ Corner with Henry Fogel for WFMT Radio Network, a series including a broad range of orchestral, vocal, chamber and solo-instrumental music. According to WFMT, he “guides listeners through classical music history…though his personal record collection.” For us, he will focus on this long-debated topic among Jussi-fans: are his recordings better onstage, or in the studio?
Mr. Fogel’s presentation is the third in our series of Silver Anniversary zoom presentations for 2023. This series by acclaimed figures in the opera world will continue next year, and is unique to JBS-USA.

According to the network, “Collectors’ Corner is about discovering and rediscovering music that rocked the world in days gone by. From a treasury of records amassed from decades of jaunts to shops across the globe, host Henry Fogel crafts a riveting and moving historical narrative. Fogel picks a wide range of recordings which he considers, ‘true classics of the industry…either unusual repertoire that I feel deserve a wider public, or performances unique in their interpretive profile, sense of commitment, and intensity.’”
Mr. Fogel was to have been a featured speaker at our Chicago Conference, so we at JBS-USA are both privileged and especially delighted to welcome him to our Zoom series!
